City Nature Challenge Bioblitz

Join Jane Weeden, City Nature Challenge Bexar County Coordinator, for a stroll in the canyon! Jane will begin by introducing the City Nature Challenge and show participants the basics on using the documentation and identification application, iNaturalist. Then the group will head out onto the Discovery Trail to capture and identify as many species as possible!

What is the City Nature Challenge? Join the Texas Master Naturalists, San Antonio Natural Areas, Phil Hardberger Park Conservancy, TPWD and many others in a fun challenge this weekend, April 26-29, to see what city can document the most plant and animal species. It’s easy to participate by joining an event or making observations on your own using iNaturalist! To find out more about CNC 2024 and how to download iNaturalist visit: CNC-SA.org.

Who is Invited

Open to all ages; participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian; no pets please.

Registration & Fees

Program reservations are NOT required for this hike. Though the hike is free, all Natural Area entry fees apply.

To save time at the Fee Booth on crowded days and ensure entrance, please pre-purchase and PRINT OUT a Day Pass.

When & Where to Meet

Park in Lot A and meet in the Pavilion.

What to Wear & Bring

Dress for hiking outdoors. Comfortable shoes, sunscreen, bug spray and a hat are recommended. Bring at least 1 liter of water per person. Please download the free iNaturalist app prior to arrival.

Cancellation
