Kids' Nature Journaling

Journaling is a mindful practice that can help kids slow down, hone observational skills, and build a deeper connection to the natural world. Bring the whole family, and we’ll help you get started. All materials provided. This program includes both a seated activity and a short hike.

Who is Invited

This activity is open to all ages. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. No pets please.

Registration, Fees, Day Pass & Cancellation

Program reservations are NOT required! Though the hike is free, all Natural Area entry fees apply.

To ensure entrance and save time at the Fee Booth, please pre-purchase and PRINT OUT a Day Pass .

This hike is weather-dependent and subject to cancellation. Check trail conditions by calling GCSNA’s main office at 210-688-9055, or go to the GCSNA twitter feed or Facebook page.

When & Where to Meet

Park in Lot C and meet at the Amphitheater.

What to Wear & Bring

Dress for hiking outdoors. Comfortable shoes, sunscreen, bug spray and a hat are recommended. Bring at least 1 liter of water per person. We will provide colored pencils and sketchpads, but you will need to bring a blanket or portable chair to sit on while journaling. You are welcome to bring your own art supplies if you’d like.
