Warbler Walk

  • 12861 Galm Road San Antonio, TX, 78254 United States (map)

Did you know EVERY Golden-cheeked Warbler born on Planet Earth is a Native Texan?? It’s true! Learn about these federally-listed endangered songbirds who come to Government Canyon every Spring to nest, mate and start their families here in the Texas Hill Country.

Join a park ranger to (hopefully*) experience these amazing birds in person. If possible, bring a pair of binoculars, but we will have a limited number of loaners on hand.

*Note that we will scout locations in advance but can't guarantee everyone will see a golden-cheeked warbler!

Who is Invited

Ages 10 and up. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. No pets, please. This hike is limited to the first 12 people to check in with the ranger, so plan to arrive on time. Be aware that this hike includes some elevation gain and loss over rough, rocky topography. We'll hike around 3.5 miles.

Program reservations are NOT required! Though the hike is free, all Natural Area entry fees apply.

To ensure entrance and save time at the Fee Booth, please pre-purchase and PRINT OUT a Day Pass .
