Knowledgeable guides discuss the flora, fauna, natural and cultural history of this awesome natural area on this exploration. Length of walk and interpretive topic will vary, depending on the group. Open to all ages; minors must be accompanied by an adult; group size limited to the first 12 people; no pets please. Dress appropriately, sunscreen and hat recommended, wear sturdy footwear for hiking over rough terrain; bring two liters of water and a snack. Natural Area Entry fees apply. Meet at the Visitors Center by the rainwater harvesting tower after stopping at the Entrance Fee Booth Area to self-pay/register. Plan to be at the Visitor Center no later than 8:15 AM; the hike starts promptly at 8:30 AM. Subject to cancellation. There’s a treasure hunt going on that combines technology with nature!
Learn how to Geocache with experienced geocacher Dawn Bodhi and the Friends of Government Canyon. This is a classroom-style program geared toward adults, with minimal walking. Limited to the first 20 who sign up with a STRICT AGE POLICY. Participants must be 16 and older. For those interested, after the class we will search for “practice caches” placed near the Visitor Center. Bring your own GPS if you wish to participate in this segment. No pets please. Reservations required. Sorry, no group reservations. Include name of each participant, e-mail address and telephone number for each reservation. Participants under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign a liability release form (provided when registering) prior to attending.
